Sea Animals Themed Sensorial / Montessori Activity

After we did the Ocean Themed Sensorial Activity I wanted to do the Sea animals based activity in the similar way ,we have done earlier.Little N enjoyed the activity a lot and I wanted him to have fun while learning about the sea animals.

I took out his diaper cover as the activity was with water, he immediately went and got his crocs thinking we were going to the sea.But this summer leaves us with no option but to stay indoors and enjoy the mini version of sea at home.

Materials Required

  • Sand
  • Shells
  • Pebbles
  • Sea animals set
  • water mixed with few drops of food colour
  • Tray
  • Tub

Fill the tub with coloured water and keep all the other materials in the tray for the child to explore.

This is how Nirvaan enjoyed this activity

Dropped all the animals one by one into the water

Poured the sand into the water

Squeezed the animals as the sea animals were squeezes and required lot of water to be squeezed in for floating. Nirvaan enjoyed squeezing the water out of the animals.

Counting the pebbles while dropping them into water and while taking it out.

While he was done with putting (read drowning) almost every thing inside the water we started with our exploration.

Took the animals out one by one and named them.So while earlier all the sea animals were fish after this activity tortoise was the one he was fascinated with.

To make this activity hassle free

  1. I have used a mat so that dusting the sand will be easier and I would save time on sweeping the floor.
  2. Transferred the activity to the washroom and did the cleaning activity along with Nirvaan and we enjoyed  giving the sea animals a bath.
  3. Used a sieve to filter the sand from water.
  4. Sun dried all and stored for future fun activity

If you liked this activity then I am sure you would love the activities we do on a regular basis, follow us on Instagram -@rattlebabblebattle and stay updated with the activities we do on daily and weekly basis.

Super interesting activities. Your posts always inspire me to try something like this with my kids. We have sea animals at home which we use at bath time daily. All I need is sand and pebbles more. Will surely try this activity soon.

You are doing a great job mama. We love water sensory play with lots of colorful chipped stones, marbles, shells and sea animals. But currently due to rainy season we don’t feel like touching water inside home😂😬

I really loved the activity idea. Did you use some sort of kit to do this activity or it was a collection of various items and you decided upon this activity. I am truly inspired and will give this a try in the coming weekend as my daughter loves sand and water and can easily be called a beach bum.

I have to acknowledge the fact that you are a rocking mom. The time, effort and patience you take for making your child grow in knowledge is commendable. I loved your sea based activity

This is really really interesting Bushra, I love the way you show to keep your child engaged. When I was a new mom I used to get so irritated because my son and I used to run out of ideas. This made me make different DIYs and some activities that finally ended up inmy blog. I can see a similar part here
